Welcome to my first post on Substack
Hello, I am Darrell Clukey, a retired educator who is interested in spiritual matters. Though I have no religious affiliation, I am a student of religion and spiritualism. Since August of 2020, I have been posting musings from my daily contemplations of spiritual material such as the Tao Te Ching, religious tracts such as the teachings of Jesus, and scientific authors such as the physicist Brian Greene of Columbia University. These musings reflect my point of view about our nature beyond the body. My spiritual belief is well reflected in the following quote:
"I am not my body, nor do I need it. I am the witness only. I have no shape of my own. You are so accustomed to think of yourself as bodies having consciousness that you just cannot imagine consciousness as having bodies. Once you realize that bodily existence is but a state of mind, a movement in consciousness, that the ocean of consciousness is infinite and eternal, and that, when in touch with consciousness, you are the witness only, you will be able to withdraw beyond consciousness altogether." NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ (1897-1981)
Please join with me on this personal journey of self-discovery. I will share my perceptions on the inner self and the mystery of existence. They come from my interpretations of spiritual teachings and may not necessarily be yours. Take those that suit you and leave the rest. What you do take combine wisely with knowledge you find elsewhere. Then your answer to What Am I? will truly be yours and not someone else’s.
For me, this has been a lifetime journey. Now in my late seventies, I am comfortable in knowing what I am and invite you to share in my musings. To say that I know, however, is presumptuous. The most I can say about knowing is that I do not know. But that has not stopped me from seeking and then sharing what arises. After all, wanting answers to existential questions is part of the human condition.
Join with me now in walking the path that so many others have traveled over the ages. Together we will remember our true nature.
