Ruminating with Rumi
To walk the way of the path is to walk in loving-kindness with all. Do not veer into the brambles and dust of the world. Do not fear those you come across. Even so, you cannot be broken. You are whole and complete. To stay on the path, walk in the footprints of those who have gone before. Follow their way or use them like rungs on a ladder to scale the heights of knowledge. To know is to walk swiftly and assuredly. You might set off on your own, but in the company of others you can travel farther, faster, and more easily than seeking your destination alone. Many have laid down markers before you to help you find your way. Use what you have been given.
When you arrive, you will find the door to the room within is open. It is never closed. All may enter when ready. Enter cheerfully. Herein lies the knowledge you seek. Remain lighthearted and accepting of your good. Your companions will cheer you on in delight and friendship. One wall alone in a storm teeters and falls. Several walls joined in unity stand firm in the harshest of gales. It is the unity of warp and weft that strengthens the mat. Walk in friendship and unity and you will know the way as one. You cannot fail.
