Ruminating with Rumi
Turn toward others. You will see yourself reflected in them. To be face to face with your neighbor is to view your own image in the whole of the all. You are that which I AM. There is no other. There is only the whole of consciousness in existence. Listen to its voice from within. It tells the secret of the whole of the all, revealing the mystery of existence. Your perception of the body is illusion. It is a thought of separation in consciousness. It cannot be real. There is no separation in reality. In form, you are stitched into the fabric of time. A discrete bit of awareness in the sea of awareness that is I AM.
You cling to existence. The me of the body fears nothingness. But does the soul truly wish to be in form? To dissolve into non-existence is the way before you. Will the soul wish to return to existence, or does it fear existence like you fear nothingness? Pleasure turns to pain, pain to pleasure. Does the soul know the pleasures and pains of existence? Without form, the soul lives closer to reality than the me of the body. Why would the soul look back when it can taste the eternal. The me of the body focuses on death as if death were the end. Form is all it knows. It doubts the eternal. Doubts fade in the room within. Enter the darkness. Sitting in its still silence brings clarity. You find that you can see in darkness with eyes that see and know. To live in darkness is to awaken to the light of wisdom and joy. This is the mystery of existence revealed. Release your fear of nothingness to the wisdom and joy that is I AM. I AM is your true nature. That which I AM knows the way home without passing through the world of souls.
