Remembering your true nature
Do not rely on words when seeking your true nature. Words come easily. Teachers, including the masters, inundate you with spiritual explanations and advice. Their words are no more the destination than a rickety old signpost. There are no words to bring your true nature into existence. To find your true nature is a silent journey within. Your reality lies beyond thought and mind. Rational explanations fail you. Allow your heart to show the way. Your true nature lies deep within; plus, it surrounds you as the whole of the all. Remembering your true nature is a journey from ignorance and fear to wisdom and joy.
The search for reality is endless as the me of the body. You cannot find your way in its world of separation. The separation you feel is not real. There are no pieces of consciousness to set apart from each other. Your sense of self is a false perception of separation. Set it aside for your journey. To leave ignorance and fear behind, you must alter your thoughts. Your usual ways of thinking will not serve you on your quest. There are many paths to follow in the world, all of which are dead ends. They come and go without resolve. Your existence in the world is transitory. Reality is beyond your worldly grasp.
You look here, there, and everywhere without success. All you have is an inner knowing that something awaits you beyond your understanding of existence. You have seen traces along the road, but they get covered by passers-by stirring up the dust. Let the dust settle. Sit silently and still. Calm your thoughts and emotions. Be their witness. They are not you. Your true nature is close by and whispers for you to follow. This cannot be heard in the din of the world. You must follow from the silence of the room-within. Jesus said that the kingdom is neither here nor there; it is among you and within you.
As you enter the room-within, the way of the path opens before you. An ember glows in the darkness as your guide. Its light is your true nature. With eyes that see, you move forward. You feel the self slipping away. Who you are in existence no longer matters. You find your reality in I AM. How do you know I AM? By experiencing it. I AM cannot be rationalized or described. It has no comparison, place, or time. Open yourself to your true nature. You are I AM. You are consciousness-expressing. You are the expressing that is consciousness in existence. You are the whole of the all.
Your existence as the me of the body is a flow of energy in spacetime. Your true nature is the flowing. Your body is but an object that is nowhere. It has no reality. You are not the body, nor are you any sense of spiritual exaltation that you may feel. You cannot capture your true nature in existence. Your true nature is real. It does not exist. It is eternal and unchanging. Remember, you are not a transitory object in spacetime that has changing thoughts and emotions. Although you may feel like you are, your reality is the light that is wisdom and joy. It is the thoughts you choose that keep you ignorant and fearful. The me of the body cannot capture your true nature. You cannot subdue I AM with the rationale force of your mind.
Your mind leads you astray in a world of desire and expectation. You experience pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. Left to themselves, your thoughts will lead you to death’s oblivion. Be their witness. Do not own them as your reality. They are not you. Do not involve yourself in their desires. Hold no expectations. Seek guidance from within, but do not force open the door. You must surrender all at the threshold. Annihilate the self. Enter as a newborn returning to the womb. The room-within is your true nature. From within, you find your way in the world without desire or expectation. Then you can hold peace of heart in all situations.
With peace of heart always, you no longer live in a world of this and that. The whole of the all encompasses you. You have no self. Your true nature abounds. There is but one song playing in the heavens. It is the tune heard throughout nature. It is the bubbling coo of an innocent baby. You have ears to hear its melody. The dust of the world has settled. You have eyes to see the light that guides you out of darkness.
Live in harmony with your own true nature. Do not struggle to control. Release your worldly ways. Surrender your self at the threshold. Enter free of worldly distractions. Witness your thoughts and emotions without owning them. They are not you. Lay aside the delusion that you are the me of the body. You have nothing to gain or lose. You are whole, complete, perfect, and eternal. You are the whole of the all. The world still presents itself as this and that, but you see beyond its separations. You recognize the unity of all. Opposites fade. What you give and what you receive become the same.
Transcend your circumstances. Release their images. Lay aside your rites and rituals. Signposts are no longer needed. You now know the way on your own. You have your destination in hand. Shadows of delusion fade into the light of your awareness. You realize that you are the emptiness within that is consciousness. You are complete in your own true nature. What is there to seek when you have arrived? The light that leads the way in darkness is you. You are the one you seek. Journey and destination merge into nothingness. All is united beyond the constructs of the mind. There is nothing now that is personal.
The world now appears to you simply as the existence that it is. You see it as form without meaning. It simply exists on its own as illusion without identity. You have no attachments to it. Knowing your true nature, the world gives you nothing and takes nothing. You abide in the world as the reality that is I AM. You are the expressing of a thought in consciousness that cannot be made real. You are the flowing of energy that makes up your existence. You are the dancing that is the dance. You cannot be separated from this reality. You have no purpose. You have no desire. You live a simple life of loving-kindness. You offer wisdom and joy for all to behold.
