Remembering (#2019)
Reflections while wandering the way of the path:
Peace of heart helps us to live simply, patiently, and compassionately. It is our nature to be at peace, to love and feel joy. But we mostly forget our true nature and live outside ourselves in fear. The room within is our true nature, which is that which I am, or twia. The way of the path is to remember I am the I AM.
To live as twia is to see the world with eyes of love rather than fear. To live as the me of the body is to fear all things and seek contentment by attaining worldly desires. Contentment comes from twia, our true being. It is what we are. Desire has us clinging to unfulfilling worldly attachments. Remembering twia releases our worldly grasp on attachments. They fall away to reveal true contentment and peace. This is the way of the path.
Worldly contentment is dissatisfying because we never have enough. No matter how much we have, we desire more because our satisfaction with what we have fades. Our achievements please us momentarily, but often are not enough to maintain contentment. When content, I peacefully watch horses frolicking in the field. Call them the thoughts flitting about in my mind. Feeling discontent, I climb on a horse and ride it into battle with my fears, hoping to conquer desire. In other words, I attach to thoughts that give me the hope that I will win the war with fear. True contentment comes from twia. When content, I observe the horses without riding them. It is best not to ride the fears of the world. Gaze upon them in peace from the room within.
The eyes of the body do not see. Their vision is clouded by fear. Twia has eyes that see through fear. The vision that is twia reveals love as truth and fear as illusion.
Illusion garners fear. Fear that there is something other than I AM. This other is foreign and harmful. Now I require protecting, so I call upon my god to save me.
Fear is the great illusion. It comes with the thought of separation. Why? Because in separation there is the false sense of being alone. Alone we feel lack and loss of love in isolation. This generates fear. Fear generates evil, which translates into I’ll take what is yours. Taking from others is false fulfillment, because, for one, there are no others. We take only from ourselves in doing so. And two, what we take is illusion that has no sustenance. The answer to fear is accepting the embrace of twia. In the arms of twia, we remember that we are the love that is reality.
Fear arises from our belief in separation. False perceptions lead to beliefs of lack that lead to an existence of fear and suffering. Fear is an artifact of separation. Fear, like separation, has no reality. The thoughts we hang on to become our beliefs and then our existence. Thoughts, desires, fear are all illusion. We can change our beliefs by changing our thoughts. When we dwell in twia, we see oneness and thus see without fear.
To dwell in twia is to set yourself free of thought. To live in the moment, in twia, is to act on what arises then let go. Accept what is. Do so without desire or fear. Let fear subside into acceptance of what is. Then actions arise out of compassion.
Live through twia and fear falls away. Then harmony prevails. To be in harmony is to let things be the way they are. When I push against my fears, I feel them pushing back. They threaten me with anxiety. Then I am nervous and withdrawn from twia. This is living in fear instead of the reality that is the I AM.
