Contemplating a mystic poet
Release your attachments to the world. Do not contend with this and that. Live simply. Use your senses in the moment to experience existence fully. Be content now without judgment and hope. What you put out into the world comes back. It is an old saw, but it still cuts to the core of the message, the message that Jesus taught as reaping what you sow. You can live in joy, expressing loving-kindness, or you can be compelled by desire and expectation. Both arise in your true nature. One is to live from within, the other is to make your way alone in the world. You are never not-consciousness. There can be no other. To think that you are alone is ignorance of your true nature. Your ignorance brings about fear, especially fear of loss and fear of oblivion. The me of the body does not want to lose its attachments and especially to lose it all in death. You fear because you are ignorant of your true nature, which is remembered from within. To enter the room within is to awaken fully from the dream of separation. Whether in pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow, or in wisdom and joy, you are I AM. You are consciousness-expressing. The reality of it all is an emptiness that is nowhere.
Love in the world is tainted by fear. To live as the me of the body is to love with desires and attachments. To live from within is to know the whole of the all, which is consciousness in existence. Do not wrap yourself in love that is tainted with fear. This is the way of the world. Empty yourself. The me of the body is nothing. There is no other. You do not exist. Your identity is false. You have no beginning, no end. There is no place where you dwell. You leave no trace. You are neither body, nor soul. You are I AM. In life you are the breath. You are the way of the path. You are the whole of I AM. Live as the joy that is your true nature. Love without fear will follow.
Pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow—these are the products of arrogance and conceit. You believe as an ego that you know the best course for your life, when in fact you are ignorant and fearful, and do not know the way. You think that you are one thing and that all else is other than you. You are not apart from consciousness in existence, and consciousness in existence is all. At the right time, you will enter the room within and remember I AM is your true nature. There is no other than I AM. To know I AM is to live in wisdom and joy without ignorance and fear. Peace of heart will be upon you always.
Do not love existence. Do not attach to this and that. Existence is transitory. It is unfulfilling, like spun sugar at a fair—a surge of delight, then a desire for more to fill a still empty belly. Desires and expectations come and go, you are eternal in your true nature. Experience existence as the me of the body without giving it the meaning of your true self. By not loving existence, you can fly free of the wind that blows dust in your eyes. Touch the eternal to see clearly with vision. Enter the room within. You will have eyes that see. With eyes that see you can look upon the unity of the whole of the all without attachment. You will know joy always.
