Attending to Attar, Day 31
You wander the world as the me of the body. You see this existence as the self, which it is, for all practical purposes. Yet, you find it to be a threat. You sense the sting of its death. You feel there is more to life than the body. You have given yourself a soul to carry your identity beyond the grave. You wish to escape death’s oblivion. The me of the body uses ignorance and fear to veil your eyes from your true nature. You cannot see to walk your true path. Your desires are fed by the ways of the world. You suffer through pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. The me of the body is relentless in keeping you bound to its ways. You find it easier to keep to its ways than to journey within. You may peek now and then at the inner realm, but you shy away. To totally go within seems like a hardship. Despite its suffering, you cling to the body and its ways. Its existence is the world that you know. You know no other and fear its loss. You fear death more than life’s struggles and sufferings.
