Attending to Attar, Day 16
You do not know what you seek, so you stay in the ruins of the world and count your gold coins. Anything beyond that is myth to you. You want a world where you can touch, smell, and taste. Your wealth is to be counted and sorted. Seeking something that has no substance is not for you. You were born into the world and you wish to die in the same way—in body. You think of yourself as form, not some otherworldly mystery in a secret hiding place. You have made your nest in the me of the body and there you wish to stay with all its pleasures and pains, happinesses and sorrows. But you gain nothing by nesting in the world with your wealth. You worship mammon, which comes and goes like spring showers. In the end, you are dead with nothing to cling to but your love of gold. You cannot attach to worldly treasure and still cross the threshold to the room within. In all your worldly efforts, it is your true nature within that you seek. Enter when you are ready. But first, you must release the world to which you cling.
