Ruminating with Rumi
Move about quietly. Walk softly on the land. Take time for the moment. It is in the moment that all happens. Leave the world to its ways. They are not yours. Marley’s chains are a burden. They claim you as their own. Each link is forged in pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow; tempered by desire and expectation. Leave your chains at the door. They cannot be dragged across its threshold. The room within is empty of attachments, with their judgments and hopes.
Open wide the air around you. Do not lie in the mud. It does not become you. Rise up. Stand tall. Reach into the heavens. Shake the clumps from your feet. You are the god you seek. You are the one. You think you are weak, when you are strong. You seek help from the world. You beg for mercy from somewhere in the stars. Turn your life inward. Your strength is twia. The name of God is I AM. You are I AM. There is no other.
You offer witness to the world. You are its awareness. Open your eyes to see. Be that which I AM. Fill your heart with twia. Enter the room within. The door is not hidden. Clear the dust from your eyes. You will see. To see is to remember twia. To remember twia is to walk the way of the path. The way of the path passes through the room within, where there is neither door nor room. There is twia. You are that which I AM. There is no other. To seek is to trace old steps. When Hafiz felt compelled to trace old steps, he sat in still silence for three days.
The me of the body experiences existence. You are the experiencing. You are the dancing that is the dance. Your worldly attachments keep you from knowing this. You give weight to existence and lose sight of the eternal. Desire lingers in attachments. Attachments weigh you down in worldly ways. The way of the world stirs the dust of desire and expectation, judgment and hope—and you cannot see your way on the true path to knowledge. Without knowledge, you are lost. To know is to look alike upon pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. To see them alike is to have the vision of twia, which is your true nature. Twia knows. To know is to remember twia. To remember twia is to hear the voice within that is silent and still. The me of the body does not know. In body you are weighed down and lost in the illusion of separation.
Remove yourself from the world. Step away from this and that. Take solace in the whole of the all. You are awareness, whose subtle ember glows from within the darkness. Blow on the ember with the breath of twia. The ember grows brighter. Twia is the breath of life and the wordless voice within. To hear twia is to hear your own voice. You and twia are the same. There is no other. You are the one. Go within. You are the breath. You are the voiceless voice of wisdom. Remove yourself from the world. It does not serve you. You are whole, complete, perfect, eternal as is, now.
The me of the body is your experience of existence. It knows none other than its world of pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. It is, then it is not. You are eternal. You are the longing within. The god you seek is your own true nature. There is no other than I AM.
