In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 4
Consider this:
Consciousness is absolute. It has no cause.
Consciousness is the ground of existence. You know existence as the universe. You experience existence as the me of the body.
Existence is not something other than consciousness. It is not caused by consciousness or outside consciousness. It is consciousness.
For causation there must be separation, and consciousness cannot be separated, nor can it be diminished or extended.
Separation is a thought in consciousness that cannot be real, much like unicorns in your mind. You imagine unicorns. What you cause is their illusion. You do not cause unicorns to be real.
The cause of existence is the illusion of separation in consciousness, much like the cause of unicorns is your mind’s imagination. The unicorns are not real or separate from you. Existence, including the me of the body, is not real or separate from consciousness.
