In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 14
You are discrete awareness in the sea of awareness that is consciousness. To live as your true nature, be free of form and name. You are the emptiness from which you were born.
Awareness is your true nature. Hone your awareness from within. Do not think about it. If you give it a name, it slips away.
Free yourself of identity. You are no more a lone individual than a molecule of water is alone in the ocean.
Your being in existence is tied in a bundle by birth and death. You are mortal as the me of the body. You do not last in form. You begin and end. As awareness, you are eternal. The sea of awareness that is consciousness has no shores.
Do not be burdened by the body. Leave it be. It functions on its own when left to itself without desire and fear. Your actions become automatic like your heartbeat and digestion. Stop thinking about it. Follow your personal life from within rather than look to the world for guidance. The outside world is full of pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. You are joy. Let its wisdom guide you.
