Attending to Attar, Day 83
Your existence is a world of perceived separation. Separation is suffering. Suffering is a lifetime of pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow fed by worldly desire and expectation. You cannot find your way in a world of suffering. Although you seek, you are lost. Jesus, like all mystics, offered that the answer lies within. He said that you may seek pearls in many places, but once you find the pearl of great price, sell all to buy it. That pearl lies within. You exist with a pearl buried so deeply in you that it cannot be retrieved. This treasure is not of the world. It cannot be obtained by using worldly ways. Words fail to describe your state if you should reach that pearl. You might as well gaze upon the moon to catch the light of the sun. To stare into the light directly would burn out your eyes. You do not have eyes to see the pearl. No one knows of its marvels. They are best left unsaid. What comes to those who reach the pearl, you cannot know. Who is privy to such mysteries? Not you. To know, you would need to die. It cannot be described to the living. If it could be said, many would have done so. The pearl is revealed only when you are broken open and splayed. Only then is the pearl exposed. You must die to the world to gain the treasure within. Nothing says this better than stillness and silence. Stop saying. Enter the room-within and know.
