In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 18
You live in a world of separation. Separation is a thought in consciousness expressed as existence. It is illusion like a unicorn is illusion in your mind. Neither can be real. Neither is caused by any action except imagination.
Existence is consciousness. There is no separation or causal relationship. Cause and effect cannot be found in consciousness except as illusion.
The laws of the universe operate within existence, not within the eternal itself. Consciousness does not exist, so it does not separate literally into parts and pieces any more than the unicorn becomes real because you think of it.
Do not take appearance for reality. Reality is changeless. Appearance is like a mirage shimmering on the desert floor. Reality is the cool spring bubbling up under the soaring palms at the oasis.
The world in which you live changes. You do not.
You have the power to change your world. The pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow that you create from your fears and desires can be altered by seeing the world from within without expectation or attachment. If you change your thoughts about the world, then your beliefs about it will change. When your beliefs change, your world will be different.
You are consciousness in existence expressing separation. Do not take the experience to be real. Your reality is consciousness. Your experience is unique and temporary.
The me of the body is ignorant and fearful. You must go beyond to know wisdom and joy as your true nature. To go beyond enter the room-within. You will know when you are ready.
