Today in contemplation
Do not lose yourself in love. To be lost in love is to stall on the path. To be lost in love is to be bedazzled by images of desire. You mistake love in the world for the love that is your reality. Reality does not know fear. Worldly love is tainted by fear. The me of the body is afraid of loss. It attaches firmly to this and that in hopes of surviving. It fears oblivion the most. It clings to love as its salvation from pain and sorrow. It looks to love for pleasure and happiness. Do not fear. Do not walk through the fires of passion. Your heart will burn away. Your soul will be scorched. The scent of love is all about you. You follow its fragrance unknowingly. It leads you into the wilderness. There it abandons you. Neither nightingale nor rose can save you. Do not sacrifice yourself on the altar of desire and passion. To throw yourself into its flames is to lose all.
