Yes, as a former basketball coach, I would share with the kids a statement I picked up a few years back: Many of the best players become good because they are not afraid to make mistakes and they are not afraid to lose. By holding on to this thought it frees them up to perform with calmness and relaxation. They look at the mistakes as stepping stones not as failing. They don’t identify with the miscues and realize that mistakes are simply events that happen and embrace those mistakes as opportunities to grow.
