Ruminating with Rumi
I know one truth, which is this: I do not know. That is the truth I know. The rest is just words. Words say without knowing. Silence is the path to wisdom. That which I AM knows. It reveals without saying. All the words of the world jumble up in a heap at the door to the room within. Although they rush to enter, they cannot. The room within has no need for words. It is silent, eternal emptiness. Keep to the words if you must. The room within is ready when you are.
You gather courage as you stand at the door. Ready to enter, you step over the threshold only to find that courage is not required. You are embraced freely by joy. There are no conditions for joy’s acceptance. All that is required is to enter in silence. Leave your jumble of words in the bucket by the door to be hauled away. There are no pretenses, no longings, no way to tell time or to take stock. Simply sit in the still emptiness of consciousness without expectation. Most of all, do nothing. Just accept the embrace. To do so is to accept your own true nature.
There is a strident noise in the world of words. It is a jangle of off-key tunes. For music that strikes melodious chords, turn within. Words bring understanding. Silence offers the gift of knowing. Enter the room within. Touch the eternal. Listen to the golden silence with ears that hear. Put your elegant words aside. You do not know. Twia knows. Twia speaks in silence without words. Listen and know.
