In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 44
You live in a world of separation where things happen. Interactions between this and that allow for the events you encounter and the experiences you have as the me of the body.
Beyond the body there are no events or experiences. Beyond the body you are neither root nor branch. You are the tree. You are the whole of the all.
In body you are aware of root and branch. Beyond the body you are I AM. Beyond the body there is no other to offer comparison. There are no distinctions between this and that. There is only the tree.
Without distinctions there is neither being nor becoming. Consciousness is whole, complete, perfect as is. It has no qualities. It has no comings or goings. Being and becoming are inseparable in the reality of consciousness.
Your existence as the me of the body appears in consciousness like a dream appears in a dreamer. The dream is not apart from the dreamer. Your existence is not apart from consciousness.
You are not the me of the body that experiences its own existence. Your true nature does not experience anything. It is the experience. It is the expressing that is existence.
You are consciousness in existence. Words cannot truly explain this. Words exist. Your true nature does not. You can only experience I AM without words.
Do not be convinced of these things, or anything. Conviction is false perception. Convictions come and go. Their illusion is transitory. Conviction binds you to existence.
Without conviction, simply know that you are joy. Joy is the state of loving all without fear. Joy has no expectations or attachments. You love because that is your state of being in the world. You cannot know joy separately from being joy.
