In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 42
When you are ready, enter the room-within. Sit in the still silence. Listen to the quiet voice. The wisdom that you hear is your own. You are consciousness in existence.
Before the world there was you. The world is a state of mind in your being. You do not need the world. The world needs you. The world in which you live is of your own doing.
The world rises in consciousness, grows in consciousness, and dies in consciousness. You are not of the world. You are the expressing of its existence.
The me of the body stars on the stage of your existence. It plays the role of desire. It acts from memory and is held to the script by fear. It thinks, feels, and acts to replicate the life you have told it to play.
Forget the script. Grow your awareness of I AM. Overcome the me of the body and its ways. Step on the stage as your true nature. Dance with full awareness of your reality. You are the dancing that is the dance.
Be loyal to your true nature. Free yourself from the world. When you have the urge to say, I am this… do not say: I am my body. I am me. I am poor/rich, loved/hated, good/bad. You are none of what you think you are. Say, I am that which I AM.
Be who you are. Live simply and humbly. Sit in the silence often. Attend to your needs as they arise. Show loving-kindness to all. How you live your life is more important than the life you live.
Do not remain hidden from yourself. You are not in this world. The world is in you. You know this, not in form, but beyond your thoughts and words, beyond space and time. You are not an object with awareness. You are awareness. You are discrete awareness in the sea of awareness that is consciousness.
