In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 40
Your restless mind perceives activity in a world of appearance. Let things happen. Deal with the moment. Let go of the rest.
Existence generates events. Things happen. Things do not happen to you. They do not happen because of you. They happen because they exist in your world like you do. In consciousness there are no events. Events occur in your world of separation.
You appear to be in a world of events. They have created the appearance of reality where there is none. It is a world of illusion in consciousness.
In your world of perceived reality, you have forgotten your true nature. You once knew. You can remember again.
To remember you must forget the world. Leave it behind. Enter the room-within. You will know when you are ready.
To forget is to release the past. The world is a collection of memories that no longer occur but in mind. You are living in a mental state of attachment. You drag what you cling to into a perceived future.
Beyond it all is the reality of the moment. The moment has no past. It has no future. To live in the moment is to act from within. To act from within is to obliterate the mental state. To act from within is to follow your true nature.
Instead of remembering the past, forget it. Do not harbor it in mind. Put the past to sea. Forgetting is as easy as remembering if you live from within.
To act on the past is to lose touch with your true nature. Knowledge comes from forgetting all that you learn in the world.
The state beyond the past is your natural state of being. It is your true nature as I AM. To know I AM is to know your state of existence as consciousness. You are not your thoughts, memories, or emotions. Do not remain bound to them.
