Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 56
You are it. There is no power separate from you. There is consciousness and nothing else.
You are consciousness in existence. Existence is a thought of separation that cannot be made real. Like consciousness, you are whole, complete, perfect. As the me of the body you may perceive yourself in many ways. But you remain, always, your true nature. Whatever happens in your world of separation happens while you remain the energy of existence that you are.
Everything happens at once in consciousness. Consciousness is eternal without separation or time. Such words fall far short of this truth. You cannot imagine the full meaning of timelessness. Words cannot convey what is incomprehensible to the me of the body. The totality of all has no events, appearances, or happenings. Nothing is split into components of this and that, here and there. Consciousness cannot be parceled out into parts and pieces having past, present, and future.
A cloud of unknowing separates you from reality. Its dark veil is ignorance and fear. You are ignorant of your true nature and fearful of oblivion. You cannot imagine not being alive as a person. In your struggle to survive you attach to your world. You do not see the whole of the all that is your true nature.
To be free of attachments you must die to your world. Breaking your attachments extends your power beyond the body. This is the same power that keeps the body alive. Using your power, reach into the mystery of your being. Remember, you are wisdom and joy and not ignorance and fear. Knowing that you are wisdom and joy is to want nothing from the world. The ways of the world garner self-interest. The way of the path is selfless.
No longer a slave to the me of the body, you crave nothing. When you desire nothing, you are free to create. Clarity and harmony appear. You are in sync with the whole of the all. Give yourself completely to your power within. Attend to the task at hand. The task at hand is to die unceasingly to the world. It is in such death that life is fulfilled.
With clarity and harmony, follow your intuition. Experiment. Adjust your attitude to reflect wisdom and joy. Give your true nature room to operate. You know the way. Trust it. Give it a try.
You are that which I AM. There is no other. I AM is consciousness in existence. It is the whole of the all. Live in concert with I AM completely and wholly. Find your bearings from within. Walk the path without delay or doubt.
