Ruminating with Rumi
This-and-that—there is not one without the other. This-and-that is the illusion of separation. Without separation there is no oneness. One does not exist without the other. There cannot be one without two. If there are not two, then there is no one. Two begets unity, like yin and yang nestled in a circle, looking eye to eye. They represent unity in separation. But there is no separation in the reality of consciousness. There is no this and that, no yin and yang, no one and two, no oneness. What is real cannot be said. To know reality, enter the room within, but do not linger preparing and never enter. No preparations are required. The door is always open to those who choose to return home.
Enter now. Seek asylum. Run to safety. Relieve yourself of the world. It has gone off the rails. You have lost all. Surrender. The house is burning down around you. But what is it to lose? Only the shell is left. Are you mad? Why linger. Gnaw off your chains and leap. Joy will catch you. To not set yourself free is to trudge down an empty road alone and heavy with fear. Do not let fear tell you what to do. Clear the dust. Brush it aside. Purity brings courage. There is a glow ahead. The breeze brings its fragrance. You sense the way ahead. Stop sitting on the ground babbling. Get up. Enter the room within. Return to the home that you love.
