In contemplation
Who am I?
This is one of the great existential questions. Mystics and philosophers have struggled with it for centuries. Let us contemplate some of their teachings.
Day 50
You are neither rich nor poor. Gathering does not make you wealthy. Dispersing does not put you in poverty.
You experience comings and goings. You are not the content of the experience. You cannot change being that which I AM.
All experience is the same. Judgments differ. Attitudes toward what happens vary widely.
The world is not the same in all eyes. You live in the world as you imagine it to be. Do you live in separation from all, or do you see the whole of the all? Is your world fractured by desires for this and that, or do you live in the wholeness of joy?
Change is the name of the game. Differences abound. Even what you know for certain can change. Both certainty and change are of the mind. Both are transitory. You are not what you experience, nor are you its outcome.
As the me of the body you live with images of separation. Separation is a thought in consciousness. It exists as illusion, whereas reality is indivisible.
What is real cannot be broken into this and that. It is your power of creation that breaks it into parts and pieces where there are none.
As the me of the body you perceive fractures of the whole as illusions. You do not recognize these illusions as the whole of the all.
Life generates questions. All the questions you have of life pertain to the picture you hold in mind. Change the picture and the questions will change. New answers will arise. Beliefs will change. You will see the world differently. This can be a life-long process. It can happen soon. It can happen now. In the moment, the canvas is blank. In the moment you have nothing and you have everything.
