Remembering (#207)
Reflections while wandering the way of the path:
The room within is heart. When empty of the past it reveals the reality that is twia. Oneness of heart brings about oneness of mind then oneness in the world. The world may be an illusion of separation, but it can be experienced as oneness when we have eyes to see and ears to hear. It is from the emptiness of the room within that the fullness of existence is realized.
The Christian New Testament frequently mentions hearing with two good ears. The phrase is attributed to Jesus in the gospels, but it had wide usage among teachers down through the ages. I like the phrase seeing with two good eyes, as well, and enjoy inserting them occasionally in what I write.
Te-Ch’ing (1546-1623), a famous Buddhist monk, wrote commentaries on Lao-tzu and Taoist writings. This one reflects the message of using our eyes and ears to take in the reality of twia instead of the illusion of the world.
When the eyes are given free rein in the realm of form, they no longer see what is real. When the ears are given free rein in the realm of sound, they no longer hear what is real.
I like this message. We are being reminded, in a way, that the eyes of the body look upon worldly desires and its ears hear the siren call of commerce. Desires and commerce are not reality. They are products of existence in a world of separation. They are illusions of the world.
Use your eyes and ears to observe the world of desires and commerce but look and listen within to follow twia. Forget the world when following the way of the path. Hold to the message of heart. Twia knows the way. The world you observe is the one you project. The me of the body projects separation and the fear that comes with it. Twia projects oneness and love. Observe the world through twia to replace fear with love.
You can choose happiness over sadness. It is the same power. The power used to be sad is the same power used to be happy. Joy is your nature. Live it. This is easier when you observe the world without buying into it. Peace is our truth. Holding twia in heart makes it easier to choose peace in all situations. Do not let the world tell you who you are. You are the I AM.
The emptiness that is nowhere reveals itself in a thought of separation. This is duality of thought. To know one thing, we must have a comparison. As the Tao says, to know ugly there must be beauty. Consciousness is emptiness that is nowhere in the reality of eternal oneness. It is the potential of infinite possibilities that are nil without the one thought of separation. There cannot be oneness without separation; there cannot be reality without existence. Existence in separation cannot be real, but it can reveal oneness and its possibilities.
We look at the world through the eyes of duality. We cannot recognize oneness without separation. We cannot recognize the eternal without transitory existence. The eternal oneness we imagine is an idea in our existence that cannot be realized in our world of separation. But twia can help us along the path to remembering oneness. The me of the body knows nothing but separation and fear. Twia knows the truth that is love. Listen to twia with two good ears; see the world with two good eyes through the vision of oneness that is twia. Then love replaces fear in this world. It what we can do in the silence of the room within.
