The I AM is the way of the universe. The universe is consciousness expressing the thought of separation as an illusion/dream in reality. The universe exists. It is not real. To enter the room within is to be in harmony with twia as the witness. To not be in harmony with twia is to be lost in fear and ignorance as the me of the body. This is the common state of humanity as it grows in awareness of itself as the I AM. The dreamer awakens slowly to the dream. In the moment of awakening, the falsehood of the dream is realized.
Follow twia. Twia knows the way to awakening. To be the witness is to transform your view of the world. You can live in the dream of your existence in unity with the whole of the all that it is. In separation, you will come to know oneness. You will see no other but the I AM in all. Then you will have eyes that see. This is the vision, the wisdom, of twia, your true nature. This nature, the I AM, is the essence of all of existence. It is everything, everywhere. It is the nature of the whole of the all. You are the whole of the all. You are the power that is consciousness-expressing. You are the movement that dances the thought of separation into existence. Consciousness is the eternal field of infinite possibility. You are the awareness of I AM that puts thought into motion to bring about manifestation. In manifestation you are discrete. Discrete awareness is your true nature. Your true nature sees I AM in all. Twia does not hold to separation. There is only the whole, complete, perfect, eternal. Truth cannot be divided and parceled out, despite appearances. Do not let perceptions get in the way of reality. Do nothing. Twia will find you.
See existence for what it is, illusion. You are perceiving beginnings and endings as the me of the body. The eternal has escaped your actions. Perceptions of lack bring about fear. Fear produces desire, expectations, and attachments. You produce, grasp, and covet, always struggling for more. All your efforts are a struggle to survive. Having survived, you seek identity. To find identity is seen as fulfillment. But in the end, you die – whatever you do. This life is not your reality. It is a dream of separation, of being alone and incomplete. The world you manifest is not real. Do not separate yourself from your true nature by perceiving yourself as the me of the body. Bring awareness to the witness. Observe the body. Watch your thoughts, feelings, and emotions without accepting them as you. They are not. Be the witness to the me of the body without acting out its desires, expectations, and attachments. This is to do nothing. The me of the body is fearful and ignorant. This is not the way of the path, which is to remember twia. Bring the witness to the room within. Herein is twia, your true nature. Be in harmony with this nature in all things. You are the whole of the all. Whole. Complete. Perfect. Eternal. There is no other. Do not contend with the world. Engage the world with eyes that see. Let the wisdom that is twia be your guide. This is to do nothing. Twia knows the way. Act from knowledge. Accept the natural course of the river. Pull your oars out of the water. Let the river carry you to the sea of its own accord. It knows the least resistant way. Your power is that of twia. The nonactivity of boating without oars keeps you in the natural flow. You accept the river’s power as your own. You are in harmony with your true nature. You will not become trapped in an eddy, grounded in shallows, or overturned in rapids. You will not drown.
The way of existence is the constant production of objects, people, animals, vegetation. They all come and go in a constant, endless stream of evolution. Constant change. None of it with any meaning. There is no purpose. Consciousness-expressing separation is never exhausted. The movement of manifestation is endless. Will you ever know why? Do not see this through the eyes of the me of the body. Such eyes are blind. They do not see. Twia has eyes that see. Twia has no expectation of existence. Hold to the still silence of the room within. Be the witness. View without desire, expectation, attachment. You are not of the world. You are the I AM. Do not seek meaning where it cannot be found.
The Tao Te Ching, “the old man’s little book” as it is lovingly referred to by many, has engrossed readers for twenty-five centuries.
1) Theme: the eternal consciousness. I think of the Tao as eternal consciousness. It is intelligent and aware. That is its nature. It is totality. It is reality. Existence-nonexistence is in consciousness as a dream. That which exists is the illusion of separation in consciousness. Existence cannot be real. Separation exists in mind without reality, like unicorns.
2) Theme: there is nothing outside your true nature that created you. You have always been. You are without beginning or end. You are separate from nothing. You are the energy of consciousness-expressing. You are the movement of thought that manifests existence. You are the dancing that manifests the dance. You are neither spirit or matter. You are eternal. These are not. Both the soul and the body come into being, exist, then leave. This is perception of the dream of separation or existence.
3) Theme: consciousness is totality. In the whole of consciousness arises the thought of two. These are yin and yang. They are the perception that is two. Two becomes the whole of the all that is existence. Existence is unity perceived as disparate parts or separate objects scattered in spacetime. This perception is an illusion. You live in the illusion as the me of the body. You are limited by perception and form. In truth you are power of consciousness-expressing. You are whole, complete, perfect, eternal. You are unlimited without beginning or end.
You are not separate from what you perceive around you. There is no this and that, you and me, them and us, here and there. There is the whole of the all. The I AM. There is no other. To identify with the me of the body sets you apart in the world. Your reaction to this perception is fear. Fear becomes the basis for what you do. It generates desire. Desire brings about expectations. Your actions to meet expectations attach you to the outcomes. You are working alone to survive and to find fulfillment. Along the way you experience pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow. You are in bondage to the way of the world. The way of the world is to live in fear and ignorance. You struggle with a sense of lack. You do not know when enough is enough. You fear losing what you have. You are tied to the world. You have little or no sense of your true nature. Rectify your ways. Follow the way of the path. Enter the room within. Remember twia, your true nature. Leave the past behind. Do not seek the future. Do nothing. Hold to peace of heart always. Live simple, close to the ground. Be at peace with the moment. The joy that you are will rise to greet you. Suffering will slink away.
You live in a world that exists in reality. Reality is non-existent. It has no form, dimensions, time, or space. It is eternal emptiness that is nowhere. Your existence in reality is illusion. You exist but are not real. Your reality is not your form. You are not your body or personality. You are the I AM. You are consciousness-expressing. Do not rely on the world. Rely on your true nature, which is twia, that which I AM. Act as twia. Do nothing as the me of the body. Then you will know the way.
That which I AM never ends. There is no beginning. You cannot fail. You are endless, without limit. You flow without shape from nowhere to everywhere. One cannot tell of your presence.
You are planted firmly in the ground of goodness. You are rooted on the valley floor. The river washes over you. Nourishment flows from the mountain sides. You grow upward, toward the I AM. Your awareness expands. Consciousness expands. Light fills the way. Yin and yang return to their true nature. This is the unity of all.
The me of the body suffers. Suffering is the nature of fear. You are fearful in your perceptions of separation. Fear is the opposite of love when all is in unity. Love in separation is tainted by fear. The fear of not having love and the fear of losing love. Fear and love form a continuum from the lowest forms of evil to the highest forms of altruism and loving-kindness. In between, fear and love mix like yin and yang. Wrapped around and within each other, as one waxes the other wanes. Examine all situations in the light of twia. Joy and peace will prevail. Bend to the wisdom of twia. Let go of the fear in the me of the body. You are not that. You are the I AM. Be humble in your ways. Hold peace of heart in all situations. Joy overcomes anguish always. This is the way of the path.
Do not live for yourself. You are not alone. To live for yourself is to isolate. This you cannot endure. Jesus taught that those who are last shall be first. Lao Tzu said the sage goes last but remains in front. Release yourself to twia. You will remember, then, that you are the whole of the all. You cannot be alone, first, or last. They are the same in unity.
You are eternal. There is nothing to live for. Give yourself to the way of the path. The world is not your fulfillment. You are whole, complete, perfect, eternal now. You will outlive your death, just as you were before your birth. Find your way by following your true nature. Release desire, expectation, attachment. When you want nothing, you have complete abundance. When you do nothing, you have complete fulfillment. Enter the room within. Sit in the still silence. Do nothing. You will accomplish all.
